Life is something else at times. We all know those days where it feels like time and people are against you and at these times you usually feel as though you have no control over what is going on in your own life. This is where coping mechanisms add themselves to the mix. Coping mechanisms, for those who aren’t familiar, are strategies used, when stressed to maintain or obtain mental comfort. What that means, in simplest terms, is something that you do to feel relaxed. For example, that could be mediation, painting, singing, listening to music, or even reading.

Personally when I am feeling stressed, I cope by distracting myself. I like to sing, watch tv, listen to music or go out with friends, when stressed. These activities take my mind off of what I am currently stressing about at that moment and allow me to allow myself to have fun. Coping mechanisms are definitely a great tool to utilize when feeling the pressures of life. Coping mechanisms provide a healthy and beneficial way for individuals to improve their state of mind while doing what they like or love!
